Search for the Fourth Key[]
During the quest to restore magic, Quentin Coldwater traveled to the Abyss to find one of the Seven Golden Keys, bringing Benedict Fenwick along due to his extensive knowledge of Fillory's geography. After arriving in the region, Coldwater discovered a woman drifting about within the darkness. After bringing her aboard the Muntjac, the woman introduced herself as Poppy Kline, a draconologist and former Brakebills University student. Kline explained that she was a member of the missing Third Year class that was attacked by the Beast and spent two years traveling the world's oceans before her ship was wrecked off the coast of the Truthwaters, forcing her to spend the next three weeks surviving on a raft.
Kline asked if Coldwater knew about the disappearance of magic and he explained that he was on a quest to find seven golden keys to restore magic, becoming surprised when Kline revealed she had one of the keys. When Coldwater asked where she'd gotten it, Kline explained that she'd stolen it from an island that was a dragon breeding ground.
