After Island is an island located in the Eastern Ocean past the Outer Islands on Fillory.

Ora's Journey[]
After her father was kidnapped by a witch and imprisoned in the Castle at the End of the World, Ora began a journey to collect seven keys to open the castle, traveling to After Island to find the first key.[1]
Quest for the Seven Keys[]
After visiting the Great Cock of the Darkling Woods for a petition, Eliot Waugh and his friends were given a quest to find the Seven Golden Keys needed to restore magic after the Old Gods took it away due to Quentin Coldwater killing the Fillorian god Ember. Waugh used the Muntjac to travel to After Island under the guise of collecting taxes and learned that one of the keys was in possession of Father Poe, who used it to protect the people of After Island from a Shadow Bat.

However, Fray, a human sent by the Fairy Queen to pretend to be Waugh and Fen's daughter, revealed to Waugh that the wounds of the Shadow Bat's victims didn't match the creature's usual kills, further proven by Fen's declaration that the wounds were made by a blade instead of the creature's claws. Waugh, with the help of the silent swordsman Bingle, disarmed Poe of the key and exposed him as a fraud; revealing that the Shadow Bat was an illusion created by the key in order to scare the people of After Island into submission under Poe, who used a dagger to kill the previous victims.[1]
