Arielle is a peach farmer from Fillory and the mother of Ted Coldwater-Waugh.
Biography[]
When Quentin Coldwater and Eliot Waugh are sent back in time by the Illusion Key and the Fillory portal clock in A Life in the Day to complete the mosaic and claim the Time Key, they meet Arielle who picks peaches and plums nearby with her helper, Lunk. Over time, Arielle and Quentin develop a friendship and when Arielle discovers Lunk cheating on her, she turns to him.
The two fall in love and eventually have a son, Ted Coldwater-Waugh, named after Quentin's father. When Ted is approximately 5 years old, it is presumed that Arielle dies. Quentin is seen inconsolable and from that point forward, Ted is raised by Quentin and Eliot alone.
The memory of her peaches and plums triggers Quentin and Eliot to remember the lifetime they spent with Arielle and Ted around the mosaic.
