Retirement from Fillory[]
Umber, the Fillorian God of Order, settled at a house in Vancouver after faking his death in Fillory to escape his brother, Ember. While in Vancouver, Umber began working on pocket worlds he intended to use to create a new home for the Fillorians if Ember would destroy their world. After Quentin Coldwater and Eliot Waugh tracked Umber through his purchases of Fillory and Further memorabilia[1], the magicians brought the god back to Fillory to convince Ember not to destroy it in 2016, leaving the house unattended after its owner's death.[2]
Following his death, a spirit resembling Umber's human form activated to protect his collection and prohibit access to the house if any visitor was unable to recite a Fillorian scripture. When the energetic emanations of Umber revealed to Margo Hanson, Fen, Josh Hoberman, and Eliot Waugh that he built a pocket world called the Ark to transport the Fillorians between worlds, the four previous High Kings traveled to the god's home to retrieve it, using Fen's knowledge of Fillorian customs to identify which of the pocket worlds was the correct vessel.[3]
