Emily Marks is a Hedge Witch who enrolled at Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy. She has a pretty rough past, and she has never known community, but Brakebills is her chance to find a place she belongs.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Emily Marks grew up in a homeless shelter, where she taught herself Latin using a book borrowed from a public library in order to read every volume of John Dee and Paracelsus. She later joined a safe house in New Orleans, where she studied non-classical practices of magic under the guidance of Candace and Keshawn Warren, working alongside other hedges such as Audrey Flowers and Pat Masterson.[1]
Joining Brakebills College[]
Marks was among the members of her safe house to be invited to attend Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy as part of a new initiative to move past Brakebills' previous elitist standards of rejecting non-classical forms of magic. After arriving, Dean Henry Fogg announced Marks and her fellow hedges' arrival and informed them that they'd be starting as Third Year students due to their advanced understanding of magic. Marks met with Professor Brzezinski, who gave her a potion that allowed her body to produce hormones on its own, and Marks was amazed that she no longer needed to take her previous supplements.[1]
