A Golem is an artificial magical lifeform crafted from Living Clay and given form through the use of a person's life force.

At Brakebills University, the clock tower on campus was powered by a gear made from the metal reclaimed from the body of the Silver Golem of Bialystok.[1]

During a visit to Encanto Oculto, Margo Hanson met and slept with a Magician named Lasaro who specialized in manipulating chi. After Hanson returned, she learned from Professor Eleanor Lipson that her life force was leaking from her due to a ritual performed by Lasaro to create a golem in her image. After confronting him, Hanson took the golem for herself back to the Physical Kids' Cottage, and later entrusted it to Todd.[2][3]
