The Harmonic Convergence is a rare and powerful astrological occurrence in which a cosmic sigil is formed by Earth and several other planets, amplifying all of magic exponentially for several minutes.

The Harmonic Convergence has occurred four times before on Earth, causing the extinction of the dinosaurs, the destruction of Pompeii, the sinking of Atlantis, and the invention of Auto-Tune.[1]
The 2020 Surge[]

As Julia Wicker was trying to find a way to predict the surges happening on Earth, she seemed Daniella Marcus who created a statistical prediction chart that showed that a fifth harmonic convergence was supposed to happen in 2020, as a large magical surge. Combined together, it was a scenario for magic spell creating an apocalypse. [2]

Zelda Schiff will then explain that the convergence is a specific sigil created by the position of certain constellations, moving one of them would break the sigil, rendering it useless. [3] This is how Julia and the gang will start to find a way to move the moon, as it is the closest and easiest constellation to move. This plan will go haywire and break the moon [3] but after several time loops, they would succeed to move it without causing her to break. [4] The fifth Harmonic Convergence was then avoided.
