- "So if- if I had this baby, would it look like..."
"That's not my baby. That's my Haxenpaxen."
"What?"
"My Haxenpaxen. I caught it. Smells unfortunate, but just imagine what its giving off magically." - ―Julia Wicker and Dana Wallens
Haxenpaxens are magical creatures who give off a powerful aura that prevents those around them from being detected.
History[]
Dana Wallens, the mother of John Gaines, caught a Haxenpaxen and kept it in her basement. The magical energy the creature gave off prevented her from being tracked as long as she was near it, preventing Reynard the Fox from locating her after his return to Earth. Julia Wicker was unable to locate Dana until she went shopping one day for litter and food for the creature, leaving its magical field long enough for Julia's locator spell to pinpoint her location.[1]
When Kady came to rescue Julia from Dana's capture, Julia took Dana's Haxenpaxen, leaving her open long enough for Reynard to finally locate her.[1]
When a Mundang witch sent a Dokkaebi after Julia Wicker due to her being pregnant with a demigod, the Haxenpaxen saved her by killing the Goblin, but died in the process.[2]
Characteristic Traits[]
- "Smells unfortunate, but just imagine what it's giving off magically. Not even a trickster can find us. We're invisible while we're near him."
- ―Dana Wallens
Haxenpaxens emit a powerful aura capable of concealing people from gods. The creatures naturally produce a pungent odor, earning them their "stink monster" name.
They are timid creatures, but fiercely loyal to those they develop a bond with, as the Haxenpaxen that Julia rescued fought to protect her from Dokkaebi at the cost of its life.
Behind the Scenes[]
- Sera Gamble created the creature based off the monster of the same name from the book Every House Is Haunted by Ian Rogers.[3]
- The Haxenpaxen was portrayed by Jason Burkart, whose role was credited as the 'Stinkmonster'.
