- "Technically, I have sexually transmitted lycanthropy--a very mild case. Would've been cool to actually fully wolf out, you know. Either way, it's totally curable."
"Treatable. There is no actual cure."
"Well, silver bullet." - ―Josh Hoberman, Henry Fogg, and Penny Adiyodi

History[]

Josh Hoberman displaying symptoms of lycanthropy.
Josh Hoberman contracted the curse after sleeping with Helen, the Cryptozoology professor at Brakebills University, during a one-night stand following the latter's divorce. After returning to Brakebills, Hoberman was quarantined after he began displaying symptoms of the curse, causing his hair to grow rapidly and his eyes to change color. Hoberman stated it was a mild case and curable, though Henry Fogg correctly explained that while there were treatments available the curse has no cure.[1]
Hoberman, while under a glamour, unknowingly passed the curse to Enid, who began suffering from the effects of the Quickening and killed a man she had sex with. Later, Margo Hanson willingly contracted the curse from Hoberman to save him from the Quickening.[2]
