Original Spell-Crafting was an advanced course created by Professor Neeny Bigby in the 1970s that allowed Brakebills University students to create their own spells.

The course was pioneered by Professor Neeny Bigby in 1973 and, despite initial concerns that student-crafted spells would result in unstable energy fields forming around the school, the program's execution, shepherded expertly by Professor Bigby, was met with great acclaim, putting Brakebills at the forefront of magical innovation.
Among the student-generated spells that arose from the program were such notable charms as Landau's Secondary Levitation, Rosenthal's Selective Listening, and not least of all, Harris' Transmorgrification.[1]
