Shadow Bats are spectral, predatory creatures native to the Fairy Realm.

History

Attack on After Island

On the After Island, the leader of the village, Father Poe, used the Illusion Key to make a Shadow Bat appear and terrorize the village. He made believe that only he could save the village as he said incantation to the keys. To make sure the villagers were truly scared and unaware of his subterfuge, he would kill some villagers that were the last to hide.

It is only when High King Eliot, Fen, Fray and Bingle comes to the island that Fray reveals that the fatal wound of a dead villager was too clean to be from a Shadow Bat, as she saw the real ones in the Fairy Realm. Fen will concur saying in her knife-making expertise, this was made form a blade.

Once Eliot exposes the fraud, he will take the Illusion Key and let the villagers make their own justice with Father Poe. They will end up taking the blade he killed so many of them and kill him with it.

Since then, there was no Shadow Bats attacks on the After Island.^{[citation needed]}
