Theodore "Ted" Coldwater is the father of Quentin Coldwater. After his son was admitted to Brakebills University, Ted was diagnosed with brain cancer, which he chose not to treat as the procedure would leave him catatonic. After magic was taken away by the Old Gods, Ted went into remission, but died soon after the Wellspring was restored.
